Specialist Expertise and Experience

Authentikos Chairman Sean Larkan has extensive experience and expertise developed as a successful Managing Partner/Chief Executive of leading corporate law firms in Australia (Minter Ellison), New Zealand (Bell Gully) and South Africa (Werksmans). In his twenty years in these roles he has dealt with a vast range of issues and successfully implemented numerous projects which have had a lasting impact on the organisations concerned.  He is a qualified solicitor in Australia and South Africa.

Sean has a proven ability to thoroughly assess an organisation or division within it, quickly identify what is working, what is not, why, and what can be done about it, and then initiate appropriate steps and where necessary, action to deal with issues and build on strengths.

He is post graduate-qualified in law (BA LLB) and business (MBA) and has presented at leadership and management conferences nationally and internationally.

The name 'Authentikos'
Soon after deciding to take up the challenge of establishing Authentikos, Sean studied the writings of many successful consultants and authors. One such author was Peter Block (Flawless Consulting 2nd Ed). Says Sean, "I liked his reasoning – in relation to the consulting profession he emphasised the importance of being authentic in all one's dealings."  As Block said 'Authenticity is simply being honest with ourselves and being direct and honest with others'. This made a lot of sense. The author also concludes that although authenticity in consulting is rare, it is 'not only good for the soul, it also works very well'. This seemed to provide a good opportunity for Authentikos to differentiate.
Authentic derives from the Greek 'authentikos', meaning 'genuine, worthy of trust, reliance and belief'. Sean is determined that his new firm will live up to these definitions.

Other interests
Sean also has a strong interest in photography, in which he is Masters degree qualified (MPh), and owns a successful commercial photography business (www.seanlarkanphoto.com.au ). He has been published, exhibited in art galleries and won awards in this field. His large-scale digital fine art works, on canvas, hang in residences and offices in Australia and overseas. Photographs on this site are from his collection of over 20 000 images.

Other interests include surfing (short and longboard), flyfishing (principally saltwater), kayak fishing, wildlife, philosophy and the outdoors. Sean and his wife Sharon, Authentikos General Manager, reside on the East Coast of Australia.
