Practice Group Management
Establishing an optimum structure for fee earning & support services groups
A sound practice management structure is fundamental to achieving success within the professional sphere. This is true of both the professional, fee earning side of the firm, as well as the support management side. It involves getting the fundamental structure right, having the right people in leadership or management roles, who in turn understand what they are responsible for and accountable for. Probably most important is having all partners and directors fully supportive of that structure.

The issues that clients address in this area include:
- What are the key elements for success with practice structures, covering elements such as leadership and buy-in?
- How to facilitate the best leadership and management within such structures.
- What to do about under-performing practice groups.
- How to facilitate effective and willing cross-fertilisation of work, clients and staff between practice groups.
- How to implement 'best practice' in this area?

"There is no single practice structure which works for all organisations. External and internal factors for a particular firm or company determine what is optimal. There is also a need for some flexibility given the fast pace of change in all professional service markets. However, some discipline around what is put in place is essential, as is clear support for true leadership to be exercised and developed." Sean Larkan, Chairman, Authentikos

"As our CEO, Sean Larkan introduced numerous improvements across a wide range of fronts, in just about every part of Bell Gully. He improved all aspects of leadership and management and our practice. All of this added up to a very significant shift forward for the firm." |
